The Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (EKHC) traces its roots to the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM) missionaries who arrived in 1927. When missionaries were forced to leave during the Italian occupation in the 1930s, the small group of believers they left behind multiplied exponentially. This period of indigenous growth established EKHC as a deeply rooted Ethiopian church known for its focus on biblical teaching and evangelism.
